Subscriber validation
Subscriber validation for content targeting is applied at the platform level by either:
- IP address (geofiltering only)
- Billing Address
- Geographical Details (location groups)
- Account Profile
Validation by IP address (On/Off network)
For Geofiltering only, subscribers access to content is determined by their inclusion in CIDR ranges of IP addresses. Content will be filtered out if the subscriber's current IP address is not in the configured ranges.
To add CIDR ranges of IP addresses for On/Off network validation:
On the Content Targeting page click EDIT SETTINGS .
- If there are no existing IP address ranges, click the Add icon for for IPv4 or IPv6 CIDR Addresses.
If ranges already exist, click the arrow and click ADD NEW IP ADDRESS . - Enter the range of IP addresses, for example, 46.36.198.121/32. To enter additional ranges click ADD NEW IP ADDRESS and repeat.
- Click the SAVE CHANGES button.
To remove CIDR ranges of IP addresses:
On the Content Targeting page click EDIT SETTINGS .
- Select the ON/Off Network radio button, click the arrow for the IPv4 or IPv6 CIDR Addresses and then click the relevant Remove icon.
- Click the SAVE CHANGES button.
Validation by subscriber's billing address
The subscriber's home billing address determines their ability access to content. Content will be filtered out or blocked if the subscriber's current IP address is different to that of their home country.
Validation by Geographic Details
Location groups of allowed or restricted countries determine the subscriber's ability access to content when away from that address/country.
- Content will be filtered out or blocked if the country is in a restricted location group or not in an enabled group.
- Content will be available if the country is in an enabled location group or not in a restricted group.
This is different to Content targeting groups at the content level which can be based on country, city, Designated Market Areas (DMAs) or custom details.
You can only select countries from preconfigured locations groups; you cannot create new location groups here.
To add countries for validation by Geographic Details:
In the Content Targeting page, click EDIT SETTINGS .
Click the Geo-Blocking or Geo-Filtering toggle switch ON and select the Geo Details radio button.
- If there are no existing locations, click the Add icon for Choose Geo-Blocked or Geo-Filtered Locations.
If locations already exist, click the arrow and click EDIT COUNTRIES . - Select whether the location(s) are to be in a restricted or enabled group.
- Select the countries to be specifically included in the location group.
Click the SAVE CHANGES button.
To remove countries:
- In the Content Targeting panel, click EDIT SETTINGS .
Click the Geo-Blocking or Geo-Filtering toggle switch ON and select the Geo Details radio button.
- Click the arrow for Choose Geo-Blocked or Geo-Filtered Locations and click EDIT COUNTRIES .
- Deselect the countries to be removed from the location group.
Click the SAVE CHANGES button.
Validation by account profile
Here, subscribers' validation is determined by their individual privileges, not by location. This is specified as a Content Targeting Filter in an Account profile which is then assigned to subscribers' accounts.
- To add a Content Targeting Filter, see Account profiles - Creating account profiles.
- To assign the Account Profile for the subscriber's account, see Creating accounts.
