Adding Technical channels

Technical channels must be created manually using data from the CDN.

You must create the Editorial channel before you can add any Technical channels to it.

Repeat the following procedure for all the Technical channels required:

  1. Display the Editorial channel in View  mode.

  2. In the left-panel (next to Technical), click ADD NEW .
    Alternatively, to duplicate the details of an existing Technical channel, click the relevant 

    menu and select Duplicate Technical Channel.

  3. On the Channel Properties tab, enter and select the details below.

  4. On the Replay TV tab, configure the timeshifting and network recording features as appropriate; for details, see Enabling and disabling Replay TV for a Technical channel.

  5. Click the SAVE CHANGES button to create the channel.

Technical channel locale fields

FieldDescription
Channel LogoEnter the URL for the channel logo as provided by Gracenote or Babeleye.
Short NameEnter a short name for the Technical channel if required.
Long NameEnter a long name for the Technical channel. For example, use the long name from the
Editorial page with the type of stream (DASH/HLS etc.) appended to it.
DescriptionEnter a description for the channel.
URIEnter the URI for the stream for the Technical channel.*
Valid From / Valid ToSelect the dates to inform the channel status displayed in the console:
  • Live channels have a validity start date in the past and end date in the future.
  • Scheduled channels have a validity start date in the future.
  • Archived channels have a validity end date in the past.
NumberEnter or select the number for the channel.
DRM IDEnter the  ID used for authentication and authorisation purposes (optional).
Usage RuleSelect a usage rule if required; see Usage Rule Profiles.
Session Group Select a session group if required; see Session Group Management.
DRM Device IDEnter the ID of the security device (optional) required in VOS360, AWS, PES integrations.
CDN TypeSelect the Content Delivery Network used for that channel/content.
Streaming ProfilesSelect the format of the stream.
Technical TypesSelect the properties for the Technical channel.
Free to AirSelect if the Technical channel is to be free-to-air.
Mandatory Content ProtectionSelect if mandatory content protection is required.
QuickmarkSelect if QuickMark is required.
*If the URI is changed, you must update the DRM Profile field. Failure to do this will cause a mismatch preventing the stream from playing.

Locale-specific and Non-Locale fields may also be displayed.
