Creating channels

To create channels, you must first create the Editorial information and Global settings, Subscriptions and Regional settings; then add the associated Technical channels. You will need to create separate Technical channels for each stream required.

To create a channel, start by entering the Editorial Information:

  1. On the Live Channels list page, click ADD CHANNEL .

  2. Enter and select the details below.

  3. Click the Create Channel button to save the channel.

Editorial channel locale fields

FieldDescription
Short NameEnter a short name for the channel; this will be displayed in the EPG.
Long NameEnter a long name for the channel (if different to the Channel Short Name).
DescriptionEnter a description for the channel.
GenreAdd or remove genres for the channel.

Capabilities

Select the Capabilities available for this channel.

DVB triplet


DVB triplet information is used to retrieve channel metadata to present enhanced information to users. A DVB triplet consists of the following identifiers:

  • Original Network ID
  • Transport Stream ID
  • Service ID

DVB information

Enter the Network_ID if required.

  • For terrestrial channels, a specific Network_ID is associated with each major transmission point.
  • For satellite channels, it would span many countries.
  • For cable channels, it would serve a single country. 

Editorial channels non-locale specific fields

NameEnter a name for the channel.
Provider NameSelect the Provider from the drop-down menu.
Provider Channel ID

Enter the channel ID for the selected provider. Once set, you cannot edit this value.

The channel ID can include the following special characters: . + $ _ - ! *

It cannot include parentheses: ( )

Valid From / Valid To

Select the dates to inform the channel status displayed in the console:

  • Live channels have a validity start date in the past and end date in the future.
  • Scheduled channels have a validity start date in the future.
  • Archived channels have a validity end date in the past.
NumberEnter the number for the channel; this must be a unique value.

Parental Ratings

Select the rating applicable to the whole channel; for example, 18. You can select multiple different ratings for different regions.

Custom fields

Locale-specific and customer-specific fields may also be displayed.
