Channel groups

This feature enables you to organise channels into groups which can then be added directly to Live subscriptions or rails within the Rails Builder. Groups can be nested under others in a parent/child relationship, and unlike nodes, you can link a child group to more than one parent. See also Configuring dynamic content groups.

Displaying channel groups

Clicking a group in the left panel displays the content in the right-panel. The Showing menu in the right-panel enables you to choose to display just channels, groups or both. The  icon denotes a group; clicking a group displays the channels in that group.

Re-ordering items in a group

Ordering mode allows you to manually change the order of the items displayed in the right-panel, enabling you to organise channels and child groups here before adding them to subscriptions or rails.

When Ordering Mode is applied, the grid is split into two sections: Manually Ordered at the top, followed by Ordered by Creation Date beneath. In the Manually Ordered section, you can arrange channels and child groups as required, while the remaining items are ordered by creation date as normal. You cannot change the order of the items in the creation date section, and items in the grid will remain in the configured order when Ordering Mode is switched off.

Clicking a header row category when Ordering Mode is active switches it off.

Manually ordering items

With Ordering Mode set to On:

To add items to the manually ordered section of the grid, locate the required item in the right-panel, and either:

  • Select Display Ordering from the  menu and select whether you want to add the item in the first or last position in the manual ordered section.

  • Drag the item to the required position in the Manually Ordered section using the  handles.

You can change the order of the items within the manually ordered section by dragging and dropping using the  handles.

To remove items from the manually ordered section of the grid, locate the required item in the right-panel, and either:

  • Select Display Ordering from the  menu and click Remove from ordered grid.
