Image Handling
There are two versions of the image handling service: a basic version and the enhanced version described here. This version enables you to map OpCon image types and content types for each content item to the corresponding values provided by metadata providers such as Gracenote. You can configure default images to be displayed if no image is available.
Image mapping
On this tab, you can map OpCon image types to the corresponding image types from the provider. The following categories are available for mapping:
- Actor
- BannerLogo
- BannerMain
- BannerSeason
- BannerText
- BoxArt
- CastGroup
- Character
- ContentImage
- Logo
All the categories are configured in the same way. Enter the relevant details and click the SAVE CHANGES button.
To add fields, click ADD FIELD; click the Remove icon to remove fields.
See also Editing images.
Content types
Similarly, you can map OpCon content types to the corresponding content types from the provider. The following categories are available for mapping:
- Channel
- Movie
- Persons
- Season
- Series
- Sport
- TV
All the categories are configured in the same way. Enter the relevant details and click the SAVE CHANGES button.
To add fields, click ADD FIELD; click the Remove icon to remove fields.
See also Editing Editorial content.
Default images
On this tab, you can specify a default image that will be displayed if there is no image available from the provider.
To add a default image:
- Select Edit... from the menu on the right side of the page.
- Drag the required image into the image field, or click in the field and navigate to the image.
- Click the ADD button.
To change the default image:
- Select Edit... from the menu on the right side of the page.
- Click the Remove icon at the top-right of the image field.
- Drag the required image into the image field, or click in the field and navigate to the image.
- Click the ADD button.
To remove the default image:
- Select Clear... from the menu on the right side of the page.
- A confirmation message is displayed; click the CONTINUE button.
Fallback image
A fallback image can be displayed if there is no image available from the provider and no default image set.
Use an image that can easily be cropped to suit different aspect ratios, for example, a landscape image.
Adding and changing a fallback image is the same process as other default images.
Preferred image
This page is not available to all operators.
If no preference selection is made in rows of images on the Image page, you can set one to be used by default.
The following conditions apply:
- The preferred image can only be set for one image type.
- The provider image type name is used, not an Opcon equivalent.
- The provider image type name must contain the number applicable to the position of that image in the row.
To set the preferred image:
- Enter the image type name, e.g. promo_TYPE_3.
- Enter the image position number, e.g. 3.
- Click the SAVE CHANGES button; a confirmation message is displayed, click the CONTINUE button.
