General Policies
iOS – iPhone, iPad with Fairplay DRM
ION supports iOS versions currently supported by Apple as detailed at https://endoflife.date/iphone. Generally, this is the current iOS and the two versions preceding it. NAGRA does not actively disable unsupported versions (except in a security breach) but cannot guarantee that they will work.
Android with Widevine
ION supports the most recent Android Mobile versions that is used by 80% of the Android userbase. Generally, this is the Android versions that receive security support as detailed here: https://endoflife.date/android
ION supports the most recent Android TV version and the version preceding it.
FireTV boxes with Widevine
Current FireTV models with at least 1.5GB of RAM are tested.
AOSP boxes with Widevine
ION supports specific boxes validated as per customer agreement. Generally, only boxes with a similar Android version to Android TV can be expected to operate correctly.
Browsers
ION supports the latest Safari and Chromium-based browsers and their previous version as supported by vendors.
NAGRA recommends that all browser users enable auto-updates from vendors.
- Safari with Fairplay and
- Chrome with Widevine are validated.
Samsung TVs
Samsung TV models are divergent in terms of hardware configurations. The TV models are grouped by Samsung as
- Basic,
- Standard
- Premium
based on the hardware configuration. Samsung also allows the operator to choose the TV model group to target the uploaded application. ION supports all the three groups of models.
ION application performance is subject to vary as per the hardware specifications of the TV model groups.
The mapping of the TV line up (TV model name) to the model group category defined by Samsung is available at https://developer.samsung.com/smarttv/develop/specifications/tv-model-groups.html.
ION supports Samsung TVs based on model years for most recent five years on a rolling basis. As new versions are introduced, older versions may continue to work, but NAGRA cannot commit to keep them operational and will review issues on a commercially reasonable basis.

LG TVs with webOS and Widevine
ION supports LG TVs based on model years for most recent five years on a rolling basis starting with the 2021 models. As new versions are introduced, older versions may continue to work, but NAGRA cannot commit to keep them operational and will review issues on a commercially reasonable basis.
ION application performance is subject to vary as per the hardware specifications of the TV devices across OLED, QNED, NanoCell, and UHD models.
WebOS version 6.0 and above are supported on these supported years:
- 2021
- 2022

Updates
Application updates will be made available to the operator, at least quarterly, and should be deployed into the application stores by the operator as an upgrade at least every six months. Upgrade release notes will identify whether the release contains security fixes that require urgent deployment. Consumer devices that have not upgraded six months after an update is made available may cease functioning until the upgrade is applied. For a security issue with urgent requirements (for example, GDPR), an upgrade may be forced to devices on the next login.
